looking for sweetgum pods.....will come and rake them up from your yard!!

Anonymous
I am looking for sweetgum pods for a craft project. I have not seen any of these trees in my neighborhood.
If you have a tree that is dropping sweetgum pods I would love to come gather some up. These are the small
brown balls that have spiky things sticking out from all around them. Please let me know if you live near Bethesda and
have any of these that you would let me collect. Thanks!

Sorry, can't help, but I'm curious now--what is your project?

My neighbor has them in abundance but we're in Mclean. What are you doing with them? My kids call them aliens ....

I think you are early, just walked outside and they seem to still be up on the branches. We are in Chevy Chase.

There's a wreath in Martha Stewart Living that uses them. It looked really nice.

Holy Crap! I'm in Gaithersburg. My neighbor has a tree that drops these and THEY ARE EVERY WHERE. The tree drops thousands of them, they hit the cars, our heads, we roll our ankles on them, they get caught in the dogs fur. The tree isn't dropping them yet but you are welcome to every last one that falls on my lawn!

Gosh, why isn't anyone looking for "vomit" balls. You know, the fruits of the exceptionally beautiful ginko trees... my block smells like barf!

I hate that ginko smell! So gross!

Please let me know when the start falling and I will come get them!!
Thanks so much!

OP, you might want to post your e-mail address so people have a way to contact you to coordinate pick-up.
