Summer programs for teens

Anyone have any good tips for teen summer programs? DS will be 13 - too young for a job but too old for regular camps. He'd like to do a counselor-in-training or other type of activity.

Where do you live? My rising 9th grader (14 in Feb.) is going to do a CIT program (they call it TNT) at Audubon Naturalist Society in Chevy Chase MD. My oldest did it for two years and then was a junior counselor last summer. It's 3-week sessions and the kids get 100 SSL hours. We really like ANS.
