Infertility Support and Discussion

Hi All,
I currently have Aetna but my plan does not cover IVF, IUI. Does any one know the plan "name" I should ask Aetna for to get IVF/IUI covered? Hanna |

| IVF coverage is not contingent upon which Aetna plan you have, but rather whether your employer provides IVF coverage as part of your Aetna plan. |
exactly - it's not the plan, it's the employer... not sure how up-to-date this is, but this list might be a good place to get started (if you'd consider changing jobs for coverage). http://www.inciid.org/article.php?cat=statemandates&id=243 |
| Indeed. It's the employer's choice about what to cover. |
| If your employer is based out of Maryland - they have to provide some sort of coverage. There are about 13 states that mandate infertility coverage. Federal govt is excluded. |
| For Maryland mandated coverage, the company has to have HQ in MD and also be larger than 50 employees (I think). There are also some other limitations, so if your employer is HQ'd in MD I would research further. |
| You might want to speak to your HR department to see if they offer a health plan with infertility coverage. As PPs have said, the employer chooses which options to buy from an insurance plan. |
