| How do you feel about your teen riding in a car full of teenagers being driven by a teen? My friend says to land the helicopter but it makes me uncomfortable and I would rather my teen not do so. |
|
Well, it depends. My son drives and his friends drive. He has several friends that I know and trust and he is allowed to drive with them.
But they all have rules - tonight no kids were allowed to drive due to the snow. If it was a kid I didn't know or that didn't have reasonable rules, I would say no. |
| Has the driver aged out of the graduated license requirements? |
| Not allowed until graduated from high school. |
| After 6 mos with license and not in this snow. More practice with Dad for teen in this weather. |
What? NO. I'm in California and here, teens are not allowed to drive anyone else, *unless* there is a licensed 25 y.o. in the car with them. It's to prevent the teen group driving scenario, specifically because it is so dangerous. |
| ^^and we don't even have snow or black ice where we live in CA! |
| A HS senior who is 18 and been driving for a year? Probably ok depending on circumstances. |
Agreed. My sixteen year old who just got his provisional? Hell no. |

"In a study analyzed by NHTSA, teen drivers were two-and-a-half times more likely to engage in one or more potentially risky behaviors when driving with one teenage peer, compared to when driving alone. According to the same study analyzed by NHTSA, the likelihood of teen drivers engaging in one or more risky behaviors when traveling with multiple passengers increased to three times compared to when driving alone. In fact, research shows that the risk of a fatal crash goes up in direct relation to the number of teenagers in the car."

| Yes. I wouldn’t allow it. Distraction and the more teens there are in the car the worse it gets. |
|
"Full" of teenagers? No. I doubt anyone would. Op, I think you are being dramatic.
And mine where not allowed to without my knowledge, and it was only ok when it was for a very good reason -- usually for my convenience and I saw no other way. |
| Absolutely no. |
Correlation does not equal causation. |
I am not being dramatic and I absolutely know a few parents that have allowed their teens to be either the driver of a car FULL, meaning every available seat is taken, of teens or a passenger in such a car. Just because you wouldn't allow it does not mean others share the same view. The reason I checked in here is to see how others feel about it because I was told to land my helicopter. |
