Can anyone share their protocol for doing a Frozen embryo cycle while having homozygous factor five leiden? Thinking I could conceive naturally, I spoke with an MFM who specializes in FVL last year (drove 2 hours and paid $450 out of pocket to speak with her). Anyways, I am not able to conceive naturally it seems and am wondering if thoughts on how risky IVF is wtih FVL. and any protocol followed for an FET with FVL.
Thanks. |

I have FVL and did not do IVF but Dr. H (who I'm guessing you saw based on your description) wanted me on lovenox the entire time I was TTC. She recommending against IVF if at all possible due to the increase in hormones.
I would make sure if you are not going to see Dr. H you have a hematologist monitor your anti-Xa closely while you are stimming to decrease the likelihood of getting a clot. Mine were in the .4 to .8 range and that was considered safe but I was not taking any hormones. I'm not sure how the increase in hormones compares to the additional hormones you take when you are stimming, but my lovenox dosage definitely increased throughout my pregnancy to keep me stable. And then postpartum you are obviously at an increased risk. I think it could be risky but also doable with the right team of professionals. My OB was happy to have Dr. H monitor all those tough things she wasn't comfortable with. |
| THanks for your response. I think if you are on lovenox the whole time is is ok to do it. I wouldnt have the full blown hormones however since I would only be doing an FET so no stimming involved. But would love to hear from anyone who has Factor five and has done IVF. |
