ectopic after ivf

Anonymous
Just found out my ivf pregnancy was ectopic. had no idea this could happen. has anyone else been through this?

No. I have never heard of that. How did that happen and did you have symptoms? I am 6dp5dt and sometimes get shooting pains in my uterus/ovary area....

Anyway I'm sorry about that...best wishes.

I'm so sorry OP. I have not had an ectopic, but several women in my Resolve support group have had ectopics after IVF. You are not alone. Take care of yourself...

It happened to me (IVF performed overseas, where DH and I temporarily reside). I, too, was shocked-- had never considered having an ectopic, let alone one from a transferred embryo.

I didn't have pain, but started spotting the day before the pregnancy was confirmed at the lab. We assumed it was a miscarriage, but the ultrasound found two implanted embryos: one uterine pregnancy and the ectopic. It was tubal, and I had my left tube removed in order to save the uterine pregnancy. My son is now four months.

I'm sorry this had to happen to you. Nothing worse than getting the good news, and then the bad news, when dealing with IF.

There is a higher risk of ectopics when undergoing IVFs because they are putting the embryo in the uterus at an earlier time than with natural conception and there is a chance it can move up into the tubes. That is why REs do such earlier ultrasounds than OBs - to check to see if this has happened. I'm sorry - I hope you can save your tube.

So sorry OP - just wanted you to know people were thinking about you and sending you best wishes for a happy outcome in the near future.
