RNs at CFA

Anonymous
I met w/Dr. Sacks this week and plan to do IVF in early 2010. I didn't meet a RN, does anyone know if you are assigned a nurse as you get closer to starting the IVF process? I just wasn't sure how it worked at this practice, so was hoping to hear from a current/past patient at CFA (forgot to ask this while at my appt). Also if you have questions in the meantime, did you just email Dr. Sacks directly? TIA!

Not sure about an IVF cycle, but during 3 rounds of IUI at CFA, I always worked with Carolyn, so the same person, but not sure if it wasn an assigmnet.

For what it is worth, I did not like Carolyn. She is very "to the point", which some people might like, but I got no empathy/sympathy with her during my not so great IUI cycles there.

I wish you the best!!

which office is she in?

I think you usually do have one primary nurse, though others may call with information or do your ultrasounds.

Carolin has retired. I really like Lorna. I think there may be different nurses for IVF though.

i only did one round of iui with them, and iui is definitely nothing like ivf (way less involved and complicated) but i felt like i dealt with many different nurses...this was at the arlington office and i was w/ abbassi.

I have done IUIs and IVFs all in the last 18 months. The staff who do the IUIs is different than the IVF staff in the DC office. FWIW, I had a very good experience with the IVF staff.

Carolyn has been retired for more than a year (she did IUIs).

You are not assigned a specific nurse.

I did IVF with CFA. Emily is the nurse manager for IVF, and she was my contact person. To be frank I am not impressed with her - she is professional, but cold. In several occasions she was so brief in voice messages I had to call to clarify. Pat is the nurse during weekend, she is warm and kind - I like her a lot.

I see Dr. Sacks, so far just for IUIs. I wasn't assigned a nurse but sort of figured out over time that he has certain nurses working on his cases. I deal with Kim C and now when call I just ask for her. I think he has another nurse that I talked to once but can't remember her name. Dr. Sacks does do most of procedures, like the IUI which is not necessarily the case in other practices. You can also email him also.

Dr Sacks is really good about replying to emails. A lot of times I had trouble getting through to anyone in the office, and I would email him and he would respond right away. I tried not to take advantage of it though!
