| Our dog was a big furniture chewer as a puppy but with the help of chew toys and bitter apple spray we got it under control, or so we thought. He is now 2 years old. A couple weeks ago he “discovered” the wood support beams under our king size bed. Every night when we get into bed he goes under and starts chewing them until we bring out the spray. It helps temporarily but by the next night he is back at it, even if there is a bully stick out for him. We already give him a shit ton of exercise and playtime. WTF do we do? |
| a bully stick?! maybe his anxiety level is through the roof? |
| have you tried large sized bones? |
|
Mine chewed window sills as a puppy and then again around 2. He stopped out of the blue by himself. He has not touched wood in 3 years.
Kick him out of the bedroom for now. |
Bully sticks are gross but not anxiety inducing. |
| Crate him at night. |
| Block his access to the bottom of your bed before he destroys the supports and you land on him. |
Bitter Apple spray to make it less appealing, or punitive water spray in the face? |
OMG no not to the face. When he sees us grabbing it he moves out of the way and we spray the bedposts to make them less tasty. |
