Question about Spanish immersion programs

Hi - I've read that in order for a student to be admitted to a Spanish immersion program in grades 2 and up they have to pass a proficiency test. I'm wondering if the same is true of current immersion students. In order to continue in the program once they get to 2nd grade are they expected to achieve a certain level of proficiency to continue in the program?

I don’t think there’s a test. If the child is having that much trouble picking up the immersion language I think the parents and school will have talked about it before second grade and made a decision about whether the program is right for the child.
