| The Skyzone in Springfield has a deal right now for annual passes. I was all set to buy them for my kids, but I googled “dangers of trampoline parks.” I don’t want to be paranoid, but seeing the fairly recent serious injuries that have occurred makes me nervous about signing them up. Opinions? |
| Are trampoline parks dangerous? Of course they are. So are playgrounds. My kids love trampolines and we take them all the time. Of course they could get hurt, but they could also get hurt doing gymnastics or horseback riding and they do those every week as well. Anecdotally, we've been going to trampoline parks for three years with our kids and never once have they or anyone else there with us (strangers included) gotten hurt other than just an errant elbow to the face or something. Worse has happened to them at school on the playground (i.e. broken arm and concussion). So do it or don't, but I'm not sure polling random people on DCUM is a good way to make a decision about this. |

My dd has a neck injury from one that sidelined her from her sport for awhile. My neighbor’s son severely broke his arm and had two surgeries as a result.
We are not for trampolines now. |
| FWIW worth, if you google "dangers of ____" anything, you will find horrible stories and injuries. |
| A sky zone employee told me he sees broken limbs ALL THE TIME and there’s usually several ambulance calls a week. |
| Their waiver gives me the heebie-jeebies. |
| Well, DCs go there regularly, and have also attended a number of birthday parties there and at Zava Zone. No injuries, but they are pretty cautious kids. A friend's DC sprained her ankle but only because an out-of-control jumper landed on her. I do find the staff pretty lax, which bothers me. |
| I'm not a Nervous Nelly but my DS9 thinks he might have fractured his foot at one last week. We don't think it's actually fractured but possibly strained in some way. I'm not blaming the pace but we'll be taking a break for a while. |

I hate those places, where I am indifferent about trampolines in general.
Every time I have gone, you see the 200 lb adult man bouncing around with headphones, next to the teenagers attempting backflips (most of whom obviously have zero acrobatic or gymnastic experience), with the elementary kids wandering through only focusing on each other as a random 4 year old runs between their legs. They are way too chaotic to be safe, and the teenagers "supervising" are too meek or disinterested to step in for anything but the most obviously dangerous things. I also knew of a girl who shattered her arm to the point of having rods inserted at one of those places. She ended up missing her dance recital, missed her high school cheer tryouts, and was out of dance and sports for months. |
| We went to parties at Flight a couple times, but then my 5yo DD's classmate broke his leg there and we haven't been back. |
|
Somebody broke his leg at the first kindergarten birthday party we went to there. Within the first five minutes.
A friend’s kid had a serious leg break with a cast past the hip and started K in a wheelchair. I let my kid do it at parties but he’s cautious and I am very clear about how careful he needs to be. I don’t like it. |

I’ve read the stats on the 5 & under crowd are way worse than for older kids.
It does worry me but we have the annual passes and my kids love it. It’s a great way to get the winter wiggles out. |
All waivers are like that. And not worth the paper they are written on. |
| My three year old nearly broke her leg on a trampoline (it was toddler hour and not crowded). We had a blast until then, but I avoid trampoline parks now. |
