Health and Medicine

My kids both had H1N1 in September. It was horrific - total of three weeks of missed school between them.
Since then I have done a lot of reading about the immune system, and have put us all on supplements. This is what we are all taking each day: Multivitamin Vitamin D Vitamin C Fish oil capsules/EFAs Probiotics There was an interesting study about probiotics and immune systems which was published in Pediatrics magazine in August 2009, discussed here: http://www.kidsdr.com/daily-dose/can-probiotics-boost-immunity |
| Yup, very similar to you. Also lots of exercise and fresh air. |
| SLEEP |
| I take probiotics and nurse my baby, I hope it is helping! |

our family takes all of the above, OP, except the Vitamin C (which we easily get from food).
Sleep is so very important over here. |
| OP How old are your kids, and how do you get them to take all that every day? liquid? a chewable capsule? |
My kids are 11 and 9. The forms are: Multivitamin - two children's chewables, flavored Vitamin D - 1 tab Vitamin C - 1 tab Fish oil capsules/EFAs -2 small geltabs (slide right down) Probiotics - 1 capsule They get the Vit C, multivitamin and fish oil tabs in the morning, and the other two w/dinner. They griped about it at first, but pretty much take it in stride now. I think it helps that DH and I are taking all of this as well. |
