A mom in my playgroup told me her doctor said to give a sitz bath with baking powder to help relieve diaper rash. But is it baking powder or baking soda you are supposed to use? I have seen internet postings naming both, so I am now confused.
Anyone know? Thanks. |
| I was always under the impression it is baking soda. It works to relieve skin irritation. I've often used it in a bath after gardening and getting bug bites. That said, not exactly sure what the difference between powder and soda is, except when baking and needing to use salt with baking soda. |
| It's baking soda OP. Hope it helps with the rash. |

OP here> That might explain why the powder wasn't working! I remember asking the other mom about it being powder, because I was surprised it wasn't baking soda. But who knows if she actually bakes, so maybe powder was the same as soda to her.
I will try the soda tomorrow! thanks |
| Baking powder is made with baking soda, acid and corn starch, but is pretty much just for baking. Baking soda on the other hand has numerous uses from cooking to medicine to personal hygiene to household cleaning. Arm & Hammer is good for everything! |
