40 yrs old, is there any hope??

| Hello, I just turned 40 and have been ttc to conceive #2 for over 2 yrs. My DH has finally agreed to seek the help of an infertiltiy specialist, but he has religious/ethical concerns about excess embryos. Has anyone tried natural cycle IVF or IUI at my age with success? |

I'm 42 and I'm thinking of trying natural cycle IVF before moving on to DE, I've read all the stats and I know it's a long shot, but all my tests come back good, FSH - 7, AMH - 1.2, and antral follicle count 6-8, and I have a healthy 3 year old. Any reason I shouldn't at least try??

| I'm 42 and looking for hope. Just started trying for #2. My husband's cousin had a baby at 43. I am hoping some of that rubbed off. |

I was 40 when I did my first IVF. I transferred 2 five day embryos and now have 1 month old boy/girl twins.  I also have 5 blasts frozen. Best Wishes!!

| I am 40 and trying IVF for our #2. My colleague who is 40 recently gave birth to twin boys with first try of IVF. I have two embryos trandferred and three frozen. Best wishes to all of us! |

I got pregnant with my first child at 40 through an IUI (my second cycle). So it can happen!

| OP I'm 39 with multiple factors against me in ttc, and I had a healthy baby boy with the help of NCIVF with ICSI. |

| I got pregnant thought my first IUI cycle at 41 while nursing my older DD (the doc was freaked but it worked). It can happen. Good luck! (used Dr. Saks by the way) |

| OB - I am getting started with IVF again with only a few weeks before 40 - much depends on the bloodwork at this age i.e. FSH but it is certainly still a strong possibility - I would not delay though - get started ASAP. |

| I delivered my second child just shy of 41-conceived on the first try and had an amazing pregnancy. I also was at a party last week where the mom delivered her second at 46!!!! no ivf either!! I realize a lot of people are going to say that these are the execptions but I remember looking at other success stories before I tried for number two and was thrilled every time I heard about an older mom. I got PG at 41 through IVF while breastfeeding my older child. Had borderline FSH but real issue was a male factor. Used Dr. Sacks too--great doc. |
