What can I sell to make money?

Anonymous
FTR, I'm not struggling. I'm just wondering if I have anything laying around worth selling. Any resellers on here who can point me in the right direction in terms of what is worth trying to sell, and any tips on where to sell it? eBay? Someplace else?

I already got rid of the baby gear, fwiw.

Kids clothes if quality, respected brands. Hanna Anderson has a decent resale value.

We don't know what you have. I think it would be more useful to look around your house for things you aren't using, and then check eBay or or nextdoor to see if others are successfully selling them. Put yourself in the buyer's shoes: why should they deal with you instead of a store? Usually the answer is either that the item isn't in stores, or you are offering a substantial discount.

If you're looking for broad categories, then: certain collectibles, fine jewelry or brand name costume jewelry, furs, newer clothes (to consignment), discontinued china, any precious metals such as silver cutlery, musical instruments, nicer or antique wood furniture ....

I'm not a professional reseller but I have some experience as my parents hoard antiques and collectibles. IME, small old items like clocks sell best. Few people want to deal with heavy stuff like a piano or cabinet. For normal non-antique stuff, it's almost never worth my time to sell instead of donate - it really takes a lot of time.

Just look up what you don’t want and see if it’s worth anything. You might be surprised what you think is junk is actually something someone will pay $ for.

Consign your old but quality clothes and jewelry.

Sell unused household appliances.

Sell furniture that no longer works for your home.

Look up simialr items on ebay and see what the closign price is when the items sell.

I've had crazy stuff end up in bidding wars, like a power adapter for an old laptop and a certain color smarthome lightswitch that was no longer being produced.

Are you talking like " sell to make money" as in petty cash (miscellaneous kid stuff) or as in significant money - jewelry, antiques, and the like?

they don't have any answers Op

Look in the mirror. Why do you have that someone may pay money for?

I have a good eye for design, fashion and value so for a couple of years I would visit consignment shops and buy lightly used women's clothes/shoes or furniture and sell it on EBay or CL. I made $200-300 a week and had fun. I had a newborn and I'd put him in his stroller on a nice day and hit all of the stores. Go to a store and if you see something that looks good check it out on EBay and assess the potential to make money.

I'm surprised you made money - I find our local consignment shops very overpriced.

Ugh...who has time for all that? And how much of it did you lose to shipping costs?

I mean, I guess if you have nothing to do all day, fine. But it seems to be the exception and not the norm.

China is worth very little. There is so much china on ebay. I have given as gifts several tea sets of good limoge or better china for so little money. No one wants it any more.
