How trendy is Henry?

Anonymous
We really like this name but I feel like it's trendy (and yes that does bother me)...what do you think? Thanks!

I love that name!! I don't think it is very trendy.

Increasingly popular, yes, but at #78, it's nowhere near its popularity in the 1880s (#8) or 1890s (#10). (http://www.babynamewizard.com/voyager#prefix=HENRY&ms=false&sw=f&exact=false)

In my mind, that makes it a classic with a proud history as well as a name that appeals to modern sensibilities (hence its renewed usage in recent years).

It's EXTREMELY popular right now. I would look for 4-5 Henry's per class.

I feel like a couple of celebs have named their kids that recently, but I can't say that i know anyone else who has. Are there any recent pop culture figures named Henry? that's often the source of the big trends in names. (like i suspect "Twilight" spawned a crop of Edwards.)

That's #8 in the 1880s...

Really? I don't see one Henry in the 5 kindergarten classes at my child's school. Granted, it's more popular in some circles than others and is #14 in DC for 2008 (versus #67 in VA and #73 in VA), but that's still only 49 boys named Henry born in DC that year.

Well, there's Henry Rollins...That's the only one I can think of.

I like the name very much but it is very trendy.

I think it's becoming somewhat trendy, but still isn't overly popular or common.

It's pretty popular, but who cares? If you like it, that's all that matters.

I know 2 little boys called Henry. I don't think it's trendy. Trendy is when you've met like 10 kids with the same name.

It is a classic name but you will find that is very common in the dc area. In my limited sampling I know 4 under the age of 3.

I also love the name Theodore "Teddy"
