I edited your subject line because you appear to have misread the article. The school principal is black, not the teen.

I'm actually not clear from the article if they are still in HS - the incident was over the summer, so they may have graduated last June.
In any case, red shirting or failing a grade will get you to 19 while in HS.

I find it odd that when the suspects are white, they are labeled as teens (correctly) but when suspects are black and the same ages, they are frequently not referred to as teens but as men.

It's really remarkable. Four individuals were arrested. The article to which the OP linked was about two of them pleading guilty. The article had this line:

"Prosecutors say Shaffer wrote racist graffiti targeting the Glenelg High School principal, who is black."

The OP understood this to say that Shaffer was black. The original subject line, before I changed it, was "Black teen paints KKK / Nazi on MD school; pleads guilty". But, what about the other teen that pled guilty and is described in the article? The OP didn't even bother to mention him. I don't think the OP was posting about a hate crime, but rather what he believed was a false flag action. He thought that this was a case of a black person posting racist graffiti in order to make white people look bad. Having gotten everything wrong, the OP hasn't been back to this thread. Sadly for the OP, this was a case of white people making themselves look bad, something the OP also did with this thread.
