DCPS open houses

For those interested in DCPS schools, I highly recommend that you attend some school open houses, even if you are a year away from the school's entry point. Many schools will hold open houses in November and December. For a fairly complete list, go to www.dcps.dc.gov under the "schools" tab (I think this is the first year they've put these on the DCPS website -- an improvement!). Not all are listed, though (and the list doesn't include charter schools), so if you have an interest in a particular school that is not listed, call the school. These open houses usually give a chance to tour the building, to sit in on classes, and to talk to school staff, parents and students.
