I saw this today. It's a beautiful film yet heartbreaking. I've not read the book but I'm going to make that a priority.

Depends if you think he would like this kind of film. The movie is like watching a poem play out on screen. The cinematography is beautifully done and the score is amazing. Many of the nuances of the film are presented in unsaid ways; like a look or a reaction. The story is told in a very slow and intentional way. I saw it alone but I'm going to go back and see it with my husband because he is a huge Baldwin fan, plus I want to see it again because I'm sure I missed some stuff the first time. When I saw it there was a mix of couples and girlfriends.
