Is pilot2019 better than odyssey 2019? Please share your pilot /0dessey experience.
If you bought one recently in VA/MD, what was the OTD price ? |

I bought a 2019 Pilot EXL in mid September. So far I am really happy with it. I would say the only thing that I don’t like is the tail gate isn’t adjustable so it hits my garage door if I open it in the garage (with the garage door open). Getting to the third row really isn’t that bad in my opinion. I paid like $40,600 OTD, but this included several accessories that totaled maybe $2500. I think I got a great deal.
I did not look at an odyssey. |

Same as pp, I got the 2018 exL (middle of the 5 trims) and the Honda sending safety stuff. Out the door was 37,200. I got that price by test driving the pilot and the highlander on a separate day, then the next day emailing 7 local dealers and telling them what trim and color I wanted and what was the best out the door price they could give. (There are scripts for this online). Then negotiate back and forth with the lowest ones and say, I have one for 38500, can you do any better? Until you get the best price. I love it. Also did not want the minivan. Compared it to the highlands but the 3rd row is much bigger in the Pilot than the highlander. I did not look at mini vans. |
| Didn’t buy either but got a 2019 VW Atlas with captains chairs and couldn’t be happier. Seats 6 and all 6 seats are comfortable for kids AND adults and easy to get into. Leasing a SEL for 39 months For $260, which includes damage protection. Drives like a dream. |
| They are both minivans. One just has sliding doors. Go suburban or go home |
| Do not lease, whatever you do, and a vw will have more maintenance problems and not last as long as a Honda, unless fir some reason you get a Diesel engine. Don’t be penny wise and pound foolish. |
| Pilot. I had a mini van when kids were young, it worked great. But, after I got a Suburban, and had another SUV, I relized SUVs are much better. |

We bought a 2018 Odyssey about a year ago and briefly considered the Pilot for maybe 5 minutes. IMO the main benefit that one would normally get from an SUV vs Minivan is a different body style as someone may not like the minivan look. But the Pilot is puffy and pillowy just like a minivan, it literally looks like a minivan on taller wheels. In return you get less interior room, less cargo carrying capacity, and more difficult ingress/egress for the rear seats.
If you are only going to occasionally use the 3rd row seats, and really like having AWD, by all means the pilot is a great choice. But for a family like us that needs 6-passenger capacity, the Odyssey was a far superior choice. |
| We got an Atlas. Also looked at the Odyssey, and would have preferred a minivan, but I found the seats and the headrest incredibly uncomfortable...If I can't drive it, how does it help me if it's a reliable car. |
