We are flying to the Caribbean, connecting thru Miami. The flight we want has a 50 minute layover. We are travelling lite - is this enough time to make it to our next flight?
Yes, if you only take carry-on luggage, and if you have a longer layover on the way back (you'll need to clear customs in Miami). If it's 2 separate tickets, check the policy if you miss the second flight because the first is late--you might want to add to your insurance.
That sounds awfully tight, Miami is a pretty big airport. I wouldn't do it if there was another option.
PP here... you should try to find out if the connecting flight will be in the same terminal. If you are going to the US Virgin Islands or a US territory, you may be in the same terminal and would be fine if you just need to walk down a few gates. But if you are going to the Bahamas or a non-US destination, then you will have to go from the international terminal to the domestic one, in which case 50 minutes would be awfully tight. And try to get seats at the front of the plane, if you are in the back, that can add 10 - 15 minutes deplaning if it is a big plane.
