Looks like metro is removing fire extinguishers from trains

Because punks keep discharging them. Imagine the liability this will cause if there is a fire

Oh please, this isn’t an official statement from WMATA. Doesn’t look like Metro is doing anything looks more like a tiny independent organization consisting of 3 guys took a pic of missing extinguishers on 2 trains and jumped to a wild conclusion.

If they’re removing the extinguishers from over 1,200 trains I think they’d say something, yes. Do you honestly think the three amateur bloggers who are investigating this supposed covert campaign have inspected all of the cars on all of the trains in service on all of the lines?

I’m not sure METRO is permitted by the NTSB to remove them. I’m pretty sure they’re required by federal law.

Fire extinguishers are expensive, and if they weren’t absolutely required by law, they wouldn’t be installed in the first place. Nothing is “optional” when it comes to safety equipment. It’s there because it’s mandated. If you see it, it’s because it’s reuired, not because they’re being conscientious.

You think they’ll stop and arrest the kids doing this or get rid of fire extinguishers?

Getting rid of fire extinguishers is not an option available to them.
