I believe my DD currently has H1N1. I was planning to take my kids to the Ffx County clinic on Saturday. My DD was not tested so I'm not positive she has H1N1 so we were advised to get her vaccinated anyway.
She has been sick for 5 days and is improving so I think she will be ok by Saturday, but can she get the vaccine if she is still feeling sick or not completely recovered? |
| Probably not. I had the shot today and the nurse checked my temperature first. Further, I believe that current illness is a CDC contraindication to receiving the vaccine. Whether because illness increases the likelihood of side effects, or because it makes the vaccine less effective, I don't know. See the vaccine info sheet here: http://www.cdc.gov/flu/freeresources/2009-10/pdf/vis-flu.pdf. |
| There are 20 threads on this topic. I'd call your doctor and see what they say. |
Obviously I didn't see the 20 other threads, but thanks for the snotty response!
