I'm a newbie and confused about where LAMB operates and whether you can select different facilities in their lottery. Their website lists an 1800 Perry St. NE address (in addition to the Missouri Ave. location), and I've seen mentions of that campus in this forum. However, is it still open? Will it be open for the 2019-2020 school year? If so, is it possible to choose to enter their lottery just for that location (rather than the Missouri Ave. one)?

You can only select location later upon being chosen from lottery. It's first come first served, essentially.
We expect that Perry Street location will be open next year. However, the intention is to move the entire school to Kingsbury campus in upper 14th street if not next year then in 2020. But this is not yet finalized (see many many threads on this). Basically, if you'd only attend the Perry St. location, then there is no point in doing the lottery; if you might be flexible, do the lottery. |
| Usually everyone who gets in right away gets their choice of campus. |
But aren’t you selecting the campus you want at the time of the lottery? |
No. One single lottery for all campuses. |
| Random question, but is there even any point in applying to LAMB for Kindergarten? |
| They are fairly good about moving students to different campuses. We initially got into SD, but MO is blocks from our house, so I called the day we were accepted and asked if a move might be a possibility. We've been there ever since. We also have friends who moved from MO to SD and vice versa. Apply and ask. If you get an option that doesn't work, the nice thing is that they have their own lottery, and you can still take your 1st choice from the regular lottery. |
Depends on your cost/reward tolerance. They've definitely taken people in K in the past, but it's a really small number (I believe this year it was only 1 person), so your odds are quite bad. It takes only a few minutes to fill out the application (so the while the likelihood of upside is very low, cost is pretty low as well). I would say go for it, but would set my expectations accordingly. |
They took 2 a couple years ago and 1 last year. It takes 2 seconds to apply so go for it. |
It honestly depends on when you get in as to whether the administration can switch your campus. If you don't get in immediately and are called off of the waitlist, the closer to the school start date, the less likely they can accommodate a request to switch. This happened to us - we got in at SD, but live very close to MO. We requested the switch, but because we got in two weeks before school started, they couldn't make the switch happen. |

The only K students I know that have come in were brought in by younger siblings at the top of the PK3 lottery list. |
This is true. But you can often switch the next year, or whenever you are ready to make the move (after the first year). |
This is old and bad information. It is almost impossible that Kingsbury will ever happen. |
Not true. It will happen in 2020. If not, then anything could happen, but Perry street is highly likely to close either way. |
