Teacher gifts: No mugs and no ornaments!

These go in the trash or the giveaway pile in the break room. What else can you add?

Really cheap and chemically smelling bath products or candles. Tote bags. Would rather just get a handmade card!

Sorry ... no one gets to dictate this

I’m the PP. it has happened twice to me. Both times the parent did it for the entire team so 7-8 teachers each time.

My mom still has some ornaments made for her by students she had as far back as the 70s. Every year when we decorate the tree, she tells the stories of those students.

My Jewish mom didn't love them quite as much

These kind of threads are so distasteful. Teachers are professionals. If they don’t like a gift, they should dispose of it discreetly by re-gifting or tossing it. These kinds of threads make teachers look ridiculous.

Then why are parents posting on DCUM asking for gift ideas?

Because people are unable to function and need to crowd source every simple decision.

It’s not distasteful. It’s helpful. Though I would never be such a dingbat and gift a mug or ornament or hot cocoa!

Wow, this would warrant saying something. Political causes? Really?!?

Ugh, not again! Teachers complaining about the gifts they get! Most professionals don’t get gifts, let alone multiple times each year. Nor do they get summers off or weeks dedicated to them. And yet teachers still complain.
