| Reading through the DCPS hand book it appears that proximity preference only applies to elementary school. Can anyone verify this? Has this always been the case? Our preferred middle school is less than a half mile from us and the one we are zoned for a mile away. The walk to the one we are zoned for is a bit far for a middle schooler to do solo. |

Yes because middle school kids are expected to travel farther since there are fewer of them.
Even before the lottery when there were actual feet proximity preferences it only applied to elementary schools. |
