can anyone recommend a mid-rise jean? i am wearing gap at the moment and i like it except the rise a wee bit low for the 35yo mom that i am

| Old Navy has jeans in different rises. Try the "Flirt," which has a mid-rise. I've tried lots of more expensive brands, but I still like Old Navy better than most. |
| Have you seen the trend now towards high-rise especially with the celebs wearing them? They should be beaten with a wet noodle. |
| Funny, I was just at the Gap and Ann Taylor trying on cords--and I also feel that as a 35 yr old mom these rises are too low! |

Okay, something about a mom showing her crack that is just....well, gross. I don't need to see that. Are there any "crack-less" jeans? Most of the jeans I bring home (regardless of price) tend to stretch out too much and end up in the donation pile. I don't want to be one of "those" moms, who doesn't realize she's trying to look like an undergrad and ends up looking silly. |
They look so strange now that I've been used to lower rises for so long. But when I watch old movies from the 40s, those high rise trousers look so fabulous. Think Katherine Hepburn, with a cashmere sweater tucked in and pretty collared blouse or scarf at the neck. If you have long legs or just wear heels, they can look great. I think it only works for trousers, though, and not for jeans. I don't think you can avoid the "mom" look with high rise jeans. |

Have you seen the Nordstrom Denim ID site? I actually learnt a lot from it!
http://shop.nordstrom.com/c/6014394/0~2376776~2374327~2376057~6014394 I'm planning on getting some soon & will look at all the info Nordstrom give about rise measurements, etc. Maybe something like this: http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3079281/0~2376780~6009391~6010349~6010354?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=6010354&P=1 |
This is a fabulous website! ("Yes, if your legs tingle, it probably means your jeans are too tight."--hilarious!) Thanks for recommending it. |
| I haven't tried them yet but there was an Oprah recently about CJ by Cookie Johnson jeans. They are designer jeans but made for normal sized people and the rises are definitely higher than most designer jeans. |
| i personally like lower-rise because it's the only way i can find jeans that fit. i have that 10" differential between my waist and hips and lower-rise Luckies fit me perfectly. (j crew sometimes does too, though the closest size runs a tiny bit large.) i just buy longer shirts so that my belly doesn't show, and you have to buy longer belts for the hip-slung jeans. |

PP, well done. I've seen people who don't cover up and it looks like they are trying too hard. Maybe I shouldn't feel bad for them, but I can't help it. |
| Joe's Jeans has a fit called the Muse that I love. It is billed as "high rise" but really it is just normal, not ridiculously high like you see on super-trendy celebrities. I got mine at Anthropologie but they have them at lots of places. |
