We always did ours at home (except for the very first one in the testing round, but we didn't try to fertilize anything with that) so I can't help with comparison, but we never had any trouble at all with the samples we brought in and always got several blasts. And some of those sperm were definitely closer to 2 hours old than 1 by the time we handed them over, since we were coming up to Rockville from Alexandria south of the Beltway. I was always kind of paranoid about that but one of the techs assured me that sperm are generally pretty hardy. I can see why a guy would rather "produce" in the comfort of his own home with his wife - it's already such a clinical process, why add to that if one can avoid it.
