Taylor Swift’s boyfriend

Okay, this is a stupid post but I was just reading an article online about Taylor Swift’s BF, Joe Alwyn. He refuses to speak about their relationship in any way, and says it’s private and there’s a line he won’t cross. I understand and respect that, and get that he’s a serious actor and doesn’t want his relationship to overshadow that. And yet...the only reason anybody is curious about him or his life in the first place is his connection with her; he was basically unknown. There’s a rigidity there that’s a bit off-putting.

I actually don't find it weird at all that he doesn't want to dish about his romantic relationship with a woman that he clearly cares about.

It's too easy for any little thing that he says to be blown up out of proportion and plastered across the headlines.

I think that celebrities are entitled to have their own private lives. They need someplace (and someone) they can go to away from prying eyes. Good for Joe for respecting that.

He’s British - they don’t talk. She’ll do all the yapping when she breaks up with him, complains about everything on her next album and moves on to boyfriend #15.

When you put it in the context of “refuses,” you make it sound as though you are entitled to have him say something, and bitter that he won’t

OP here and I can’t disagree with PPs. It’s just that everything with Taylor Swift seems so curated, including her recent reclusive behavior. But I guess it works for her; she doesn’t need to do interviews to sell albums.

I would bet a breakup is soon to happen. Her star has really fallen for where she was a couple of years ago. That wouldn't be a big deal to most singers but Taylor Swift really works on her image and popularity.

I'm not saying that her last album's poor reception and lack of award nominations will cause her to break up with her boyfriend, but it wouldn't surprise me if the stress of it causes her to feel like she wants to dump everything and start over.

Her album sales depend on her love life or rather - gets her inspiration from it. That’s tougher the older you get though I suppose she could keep dating a string of suitors well into her 60s. Adele also has music motivated by her personal relationship experiences but she’s able to mine more than the superficial so it doesn’t seem to bother her as much.

I think it's weird that people ask him about his relationship in any capacity. When you meet someone new, do you ask their relationship status? I've been interviewed before for articles and never once has the reporter asked me about my relationship status. Why? Because I'm a nobody. Why does it become acceptable when the person is a somebody?

It's like the obsession society has with knowing if young stars are virgins and which actors/actresses are LGBTQ. It's none of our business and disgusting that those questions get asked just because they are famous and in the public eye.

I wish I could bet on pregnancy. She's probably wants to get pregnant so badly, but is worried she'll look like a tramp to conservative fans for having a baby out of wedlock. If she was SUPER into the current boy she'd be married already in a small ceremony, then pop out a baby.
