Hi All,
My 8th grader is applying to sit for the SWWHS exam. Anyone have any test prep tutors or companies they used for this exam? He could use some test taking skills help and tightening up his math and essay skills. Thanks! |
| No recommendations, but I understood it to be a multiple choice exam, no essays. |
| Tgere is an essay. |

If I recall correctly from last year’s info session, the multiple choice is graded first.
Then they read the essays of those students who did well on the multiple choice, and decide who to invite for an interview. |
| I wrote it down,. yes |
| I mean this with the best intentions, but if your DC needs a tutor for the test, you should ask yourself if SWW is the right high school for that student. It is a very self-directed, self-motivated school model full of high achieving students. Helping a kid get in will not guarantee that student will be successful. High school is a long journey. Keep that in mind. |
Wow, PP, judgmental much? She didn’t ask for your opinion about her child’s chances (which you inferred because she was asking for a test taking tutor - news flash: many people who are self-directed and self-motivated are terrible test-takers). OP wanted tutor recs, not a sanctimonious lecture aimed at keeping her kid from shooting for something s/he wants. |
| Lots of people have their kids tutored for this test. OP, you are doing nothing different than tons of other people, it's perfectly fine. |
