Book recommendations for high school (freshman) boy

Anonymous
Please suggest books for a high school freshman boy.
So far I will be buying "The Outsiders" and "The Giver" but I would like at least one more. I'd especially like a book that is part of a series, so if he likes it he can seek out the rest of the series as well.
Thank you!

Does it have to be fiction? My HS boy likes Bill Bryson's books. Started with The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid, then A Walk in the Woods, and then several more from there.

A Separate Peace

If he hasn’t already read it, try the Scythe series.

Also, books by Andrew Smith, starting with Winger and Stand Off. He’ll probably find Grasshopper Jungle hilarious. Some of the others are more serious and/or surreal, but my DS absolutely loves them all.

Astrophysics for People in a Hurry

What books has he particularly liked? There are several fantasy and science fiction series if he likes that.

The Martian.

My ds is a huge reader and he had to read the Outsider and the Giver in middle school. He didn't really like either of them.

My ds also liked Death By Black Hole, same author as Astrophysics for People in a Hurry. I don't think we have that one, maybe I will get it for him for christmas.

+1

I remember reading those books in 6th grade! Both of those books are a little young for 9th grade in my opinion.

My 13 year old boy is getting:

Mindhunter (fbi profilings book)
Different seasons by Stephen king
Several Spider-Man big comic collections

But that’s what he’s into.

Get your kid books on the topics that interest him.
