If you were accepted into a DC Public School through the out-of-boundary lottery are you then free to move within the city without forfeiting your spot at that school? I know if you are enrolled as an in-boundary student, and you move out of that boundary then you must switch schools, but what if you were always an out-of-boundary enrollment? |
I thought that once you were in a public school you could stay there even if you moved out of boundaries. Either way, I'm sure if you got in OOB you could stay regardless of where you live. |

Actually, dd was in-boundary and then we moved out-of-boundary and her school allowed her to stay. I don't think the school cares where you live if you start out as out-of-boundary. Even if they did, it's not like they have the staff to go running down people's addresses in the District. |
I am not speaking from experience, but from what I have read of others. It is up to the school. They can have students leave if they move out of boundary, but more often than not, they let the students stay on until they "graduate" from the school. |
You might want to check with the principal at your child's school. Several years ago we got into an in boundary school. We moved two blocks away and were then OOB, but my child stayed in the school until graduating. |
