My 13 yo DD (7th grader, turned 13 in Nov) has played fall CYO soccer for years. She is a good player but also does several other sports and activities so had not tried out for any other soccer teams. Last night, she asked if she could play more soccer- i.e. find a spring team and possibly winter futsal and/or clinics. Given this late timing, does anyone have any suggestions on possible options in the Montgomery County area for her? Thank you!
There are many options but it depends on how serious she is and how strong a player she is.
It is hard for me to judge her skill level given her limited experiences. I don't think that she is a soccer prodigy but she is one of the better players on her not-very-intense team and has never really had serious coaching. Her technical soccer skills seem strong but she could be more aggressive/assertive when she plays. I think that she is serious and wants to focus on soccer moving forward... but I don't think that a travel team would be manageable with our schedules. So, I guess something between rec and travel would be a good place for us to start.

There is another discussion about this issue but I would check out MSI Classic and/or Sam's Select. You should be able to find clubs doing indoor programs and preparing for Spring.
I have made this recommendation on other threads, but we really love Ali at Pivotal Play soccer. She was a local high school standout who played in college. Her business has winter clinics and they provide coaches to some MSI Classic teams. And, she is just a super nice person who is easy to talk to.
Try Brit-Am for Classic.
