Honors vs non honors weightage in FCPS

Hello DC Moms and Dads

Rel. New to NoVA. DC is a raising MS in FCPS. Above average. Non AAP. Likes/Appreciates Math. Will end up doing Math 7 H mostly.
Question is - do Honor classes have a higher weightage ?
What about subjects like Alg H, Geo H....later in 8th grade/HS. Is it weighted differently?
Please help.
TIA.

High school courses that have honors are weighted 0.5 points.

AP classes get a 1.0 grade bump.

It doesn't matter in middle school unless you are taking a high school class like Alg. Hons., or Geom. Hons. If you got a B in Alg. Hons. it would count as 3.5 on your HS transcript.

Math 7 hons doesn't have any grade point bump.

If it is regular Alg. in middle or high school, the grade is the grade. An A- is 3.67. There is no bump.

If it is Alg Hons (regardless of when you take it), it gets a .5 grade bump. So, if you got an A- for your grade, it would count as (3.67 +.5 = 4.17) for your GPA. They may round it to 4.2.

Honors gets a 0.5 gpa bump
AP/IB get a 1.0 gpa bump

The bump does not change the grade shown on the report card. It is only reflected in the weighted GPA.

Also keep in mind that most colleges consider the unweighted gpa for admissions, and use the weighted gpa as a reflection of course rigor.

Better colleges strip the weighted bumps off gpa when they are considering admissions.

Don't rely on it.

The grade itself stays the same. It's just the way the weighted GPA is calculated.
