Baby Shower Questions

Anonymous
1) Any suggestions on places or websites to buy cute baby shower invitations?

2) Any suggestions for cake ideas? I saw something really cute on Charm City Cakes website of a pregnant mom sitting on top of a cake. I thought the concept was unique and funny.

3) Any suggestions for themes? I'm having a girl and a friend suggested just sticking to some of my favorite colors rather than a theme but I wanted to see if anyone has hosted a really unique baby shower lately and what ideas they used.

4) Any suggestions on favors? This one has been driving me crazy! Some favors out there seem so cheesey and I'm not the DIY type so I definitely want to buy something for my guests.

Thanks for any ideas and suggestions! I really appreciate it!!

www.tinyprints.com has cute invitations

for the cake, my sister made these baby blocks from the Martha Stewart web site and they were SO CUTE:

PP listed a great online invite resource so I won't offer any other suggestion except for www.paper-source.com if you're inclined to do something more "hands on".

As for cake ideas, how about cupcakes from one of the new cupcake places in DC? I recommend Georgetown Cupcake (www.georgetowncupcake.com) but place your order at least 2 days early. I think they sell out daily.

As for themes, why don't you choose a color and run with it? I've hosted a couple showers for friends - one where she knew it was a girl, the other it was a surprise - so we did an all pink them for the girl (surprise!) and green and orange for the surprise. Flowers were monochromatic and I served a lot of just pink (think mostly desserts) or orange and green foods (melon and prosciutto rolls, chicken salad lettuce wraps, grilled cheddar cheese sandwiches, etc.). You can have a lot of fun with beverages, too!

As for favors, I created my own baby soundtrack and burned CD's for the guests.

Hope this helps! Good luck!!
