| So wanting to know if anyone has experience with this? I'm supposed to start clomid this next cycle. Unfortunately I haven't gotten my period. It's 11 days late even considering my highest average ( my period is not regular but usually has a 5-8 day or so range of when it comes). I'm not pregnant. I am not having period symptoms. Has anyone had their dr. Prescribe something to make their period start? I mean I am annoyed that I have no idea when I'm actually going to be able to start this next cycle. If you did take something: Did it work? How long did it take for your period to start? Was it a normal cycle? I have secondary infertility and we have been trying for over a year and clomid was the next step...but now I'm in limbo with no sign of my period. Thanks! |

Yep. I have PCOS and am very familiar with anovulatory or otherwise crazy cycles. I've had both an OBGYN and my RE prescribe progesterone (oral pill form) to induce a period. I think I took a week's worth of pills both times.

I have PCO (no syndrome), but this happened to me when I was TTC my second child. (I got pregnant right after I stopped birth control with my first child). We were TTC for about 2 months when I missed a period. I thought I was pregnant, but I wasn't. Didn't get my period for another 50 days.
I went to see my OB and she prescribed clomid, but I didn't want to take it. (this is when I found out that I have polycystic ovaries). Long story short, I found a new OB who ran blood tests to confirm that I did not have PCOS, then she prescribed the mini-pill to get my cycles back on track. As soon as I stopped taking the mini-pill, I got pregnant. Don't know if this was helpful; just sharing since I had a similar experience to yours. |
I also have anovulatory or very long cycles. When I was TTC my first we tried for a year when my cycles went from around 40 days to around 60+ days to not coming at all, after I had been prescribed clomid. I also took progesterone to induce a period and then took clomid. |
Did this work for you? Did you get pregnant? |
| I don’t have pCOS, but this happened to me in two occasions. Once it was after coming off birth control pills. I had about 6 months or so of crazy long periods and very irregular. Second time was when I was TTC my second baby and I had one month in which I was super stressed out because of a major exam I had to prepare. I got pregnant that cycle, but I ovulated on day 20th-25th inseatd of 12-14. I kept taking pregnancy tests, but they were negative. Even went to the doctor who told me I was not pregnant and then about a week or so later.... boom! Positive pregnancy test, etc |
Yes. It was a monitored clomid cycle. I ovulated fairly late, I can't remember exactly when but maybe around day 18-19 or so. I only had one follicle and my obgyn was surprised that I got pregnant. Because I ovulated late I remember the pregnancy tests were negative until like day 32+ I think. Prior to all this I had a fertility workup including an HSG and some other tests to make sure there were no other issues. |
| Have you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility? It is fascinating. |
| When I went off birth control (32 years old) I didn’t ovulate / get a period for 3 months. I then went another 3 months without a period (so one period in 6 momths). I took progesterone to trigger my period and then clomid and conceived my DD that month - she’s now 6. |
