Hi All
I am currently a patient at Shady Grove and have not gotten the results that I hoped for. I have had two cycles and two miscarriages and one failure to get pregnant. Also retrieval results in terms of number of eggs were not what I expected. I am considering changing clinics before I start the next cycle. However, even if I stay with Shady Grove I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with switching doctors within Shady Grove or any other clinic or has any information about this. I have brought this subject up to my nurse and she has said that the protocols would be the same even with a different doctor and also that the doctors consult with one another so that it really doesn't matter if you switch doctors. Does anyone have any experience, ideas or information about this? Also, can you recommend and doctors within Shady Grove or know any that should be avoided in your experience? I would really appreciate and help or insights you might have on this. Wishing the very best to all of you. |

Just tell them you are switching because another location is more convenient for you or something like that. But do ask around to find a doctor within SG who will talk through your results with you and recommend changes. To some extent they do follow the same protocols and you individual doc may not even be in town to adjust your doses during your stim phase, but the individual doctors do have leeway to pick the protocol, approve additional testing, and other things like that so it does matter which doctor you use there. |
| I would definitely try another practice. |
| We switched to Dominion and it's been better overall, but we haven't gotten a BFP yet. |
| I'd switch practices. I left Shady Grove for CCRM NoVa and have had a much better experience and gotten way more personalized care that was very individualized to me. SG from my experience was pretty cookie cutter so not sure that'd really change with a different doctor. |
I switched from Dominion to CCRM and have had the same experience. Dominion wanted to keep doing the same thing and ain't nobody got time or money for that. |
| We had success with Dr Rachana Garde in SGFs Fairfax Office and with Dr Paulette Browne in SGFs Fair Oaks Office. Garde handled the protocols and monitoring. Browne actually performed the transfer that led to a successful birth. At least when we went through this 2 years ago, transfers could not be performed in Virginia and all were done out of Rockville and there was no guarantee that your regular doctor at SGF would be on rotation on the day of the transfer; what I don’t recall is whether we could have chosen between the two doctors on rotation that day. We were successful with the first transfer of our first cycle and now have an amazing little boy who is about to turn two. |
| We had success with Devine at the k street office. She changed my protocol and was willing to listen to our concerns after our first failed cycle. I highly recommend her. |
| We tried all the area clinics (some just for consults) and finally had success with Dominion. Dr. Sarajari was great from the start and the nurses, particularly Natalie, was a game changer from the beginning. SGF was cookie cutter and probably would have been fine if I was an easy case, but I had a lot of issues. |

I switched within SGF, nobody batted an eyelash. I liked Levens in VA office. Get all of your paperwork, numbers, etc. Get an idea of what protocols are best for what you have, at the first consult ask if the Dr. is willing to change things up. E.g. I was oversuppressed on birth control and lupron was a bad trigger for me, so I asked for a EPP.
If you decide to leave SGF, I think Frankfurter at GWU is really good at thinking outside the box. I consulted with him, but didn't do a protocol there. |

| I switched doctors within Sgfc. Had a dr in rockville practice and switched to Dr Widra at Kstreet/ sibley and had success with the first IVF itself. The protocol he used was aggressive and it worked. So definetly switch if you want to and i did not try to go looking for the most perfect dr but generally went with experience and if i thought he/she was good at answering my questions and working with me. |
