| Did anyone get any advice to avoid getting the flu from your child shedding the mist? I know pregnant women need to be especially careful. I assume don't cuddle for a while, but how long?Is shedding a possibility the first week or first day? My husband and I did not get vaccinated because we are not in the highest risk groups. |

Some docs seem to be saying that it's a concern for pregnant women, but the CDC says it's no problem for pregnant women to be around people who got the mist.
http://www.cdc.gov/FLU/PROFESSIONALS/acip/specificpopulations.htm under the heading "Pregnant Women" (LAIV=flumist) --
Also, read under the heading "Close Contacts of Immunocompromised Persons" to find out who should NOT be around people who recently got the flumist -- basically, you have to have a MAJOR immune disorder problem for this to be an issue. If you are a healthy adult, please do not avoid cuddling your recently flu-misted children... there is absolutely no reason to do that. |
