Accidentally left bank account receipt with teacher

My son has a private tutor and I was thumbing through my purse and accidentally left my checking account receipt on the floor. It must have dropped out of my purse. Statement showed 50k balance. Teacher gave it to me this week. I’m was a little embarrassed. Do a lot of folks in wealthy areas keep 50k in checking?

At the ATM at my bank, there are often ATM receipts littered on the ground. Sometimes I look. 80 percent of them seem to have less than $200 in their account.

A lot of wealthy folks don’t keep $50k in checking because they know it’s dumb to keep $50k in checking.

I’d wonder why you don’t have it in an interest bearing account.

Why bother to hold on to the receipt if there’s no pride in dropping it in someone’s home later on to reveal your income in a klassy way?

No, the truly wealthy do not keep it in a checking account. The “I’ve never had $50k before” people do.

No, the truly wealthy do not keep it in a checking account. The “I’ve never had $50k before” people do.

Agreed. That’s a lot of money to have to fight to get back if someone hacks your account.

I keep enough to pay bills, and my savings isn’t linked to my checking.
