Issue with search function?

Anonymous
I’m wondering if anyone else has had trouble with searching in DCUM? Sometimes it works, but lately there are times when a search yields zero results when I know there should be results. This has happened on more than one device. The problem seems to be sporadic. Thanks!

We have two servers that are clustered. The search on one of them is not working correctly. It is currently indexing posts, but going very slowly. I'm trying to determine the cause of the slowness, but so far unsuccessfully.

Does it have to do with the new secure site? I get different search results when searching with https and then just http after getting only recent threads in the results. Thanks for looking into this, I know everyone complains about the search function here but it usually works just fine for me.

Despite DCUM being a fairly small site in the context of the entire Internet, I use about 8 servers to run the whole thing. Two of them run the forum software and I replaced those two over the last two weeks. I decided to completely rebuild the search indexes on the new hardware. This worked without a hitch on the first server, but the second one indexed very slowly. As a result, any users that were on the second server could only do very limited searches. Today I took the second server out of production, made some tweaks, and rebuilt the search indexes again. I was able to get it to index fairly quickly and it was able to complete the entire rebuild. So, now both servers should be able to do full searches.
