Feeling a bit creeped out

I started seeing a new guy but wanted to keep it a secret.
New guy asked me if I knew "Jon". I asked why and he said he got a missed call from
a number. When he asked who it was the person replied with "Ben. We don't know each other but you were in the same group text as me a couple months ago. I was deleting the text and accidentially called you."
Ben is my friend and has been a bit weird with me lately. I think he knows about Jon and suspected this was his number and so decided to "mistakenly" call it and find out about Jon. I don't think it was a mistake at all.

Thoughts?

This sounds as if you are in your very early 20s, or younger. What is the purpose of keeping it a secret within your friend group? You are looking for drama.

I don't get why/how they would be on the same group chat if Jon doesn't know whether or not you know Ben. It would seem that they would know each other and you in that case.

It was for a petition I was doing. They know me but not each other. Yes I do think Ben wants more than friendship
