Health and Medicine
| My DH and I are contemplating lining up early at one of the Fairfax Co clinics this week and are wondering what others have experienced with these clinics. What times are people starting to line up? How long did you have to wait? Was it well organized? Did you go to Reston, Falls Church, Alexandria, Springfield or Fairfax? Any tips/info -- particularly w/ Reston & FC would be very helpful!! |
| FFX is only vaccinating those in high-risk groups right now, which means kids 6 and under, pregnant women, and caregivers of babies under 6 months of age. |
| OP here....my DH and I are in high-risk group b/c we have a 5 week old at home. We also have a 2 y.o. who needs vaccinated. |
| 13:32 here. I'm eager to hear your responses, as I will be there Wednesday morning with my 6-year-old. And I just learned that my internist is vaccinating her patients who are in high-risk categories (which I am), so I hope to get mine that afternoon. It might be worth checking with your doctor to see if s/he has any. Odd that my internist has it and my pulmonologist doesn't! |

OP - I posted this under another thread:
I went to the clinic in Fairfax (on Old Lee Hwy) last Tuesday. I got there around 9:00, got a number and didn't leave until 1:30. They put a sign on the door around 10:45 saying the clinic was closed as they had reached their max number of doses. They say that they have 250 doses, but it's really 250 families as there were many groups needing more than one vac (i.e. multiple eligible children, pregnant mom + toddler, etc.). I was number 178. There were 3 nurses administering the vaccines and it was S-L-O-W. I am a county resident, but they did not check my ID. They do ask for address and ask which county you're from, though, and a person checks over the form before you get the shot, so maybe if I'd put down an out-of-county address, they would have questioned me. I was also at the clinic on Saturday and this form was check more throughly than the form on Saturday. |

I would get there EARLY.
I posted on another thread re Ffx County, but my neighbor went to Reston on Thursday of last week shortly after 8am and they had already given out all 250 numbers. She rushed over to Falls Church and got #248 out of 250. She said she got out some time after noon, so I think it was about a 3 hr wait. |
| I tried to go to the one at Falls Church. Pulled up with my kids at 8:02 and there were well over 100 people in line (some under cover, some in the rain). Kept going b/c I didn't want to stand for hours with my 2 toddlers and infant. I know by 10:45 they had finished with their allotment. |
| Heard that last week FC ran out of vaccine by 9, and Reston by 8:40. Some people lined up around 5:30 a.m. |
| I lined up last week at the one off of Old Lee Hwy. I got there at 7:15am and was out by 9:15am. We were 40th in line. They actually starting letting people inside around 8ish. When we left the was soooo long and I would guess a 3-4 hour wait. |

friends went yesterday to FC. got there just before 8 and got #249. Were given a slip of paper and told to come back later that day.
According to the Fairfax website all were maxed out by 9:10 except Mt. Vernon which still had some left at around noon. |
| DH took our 3 year old this morning to the Willard Center on Old Lee Highway. They arrived at 7:30, got a number of 153 and got out at 10:00. |

Reston clinic; last Thursday arrived at 8 and got turned away after a short wait in line. Last Friday, arrived at 6:15 and got number 52, actual shot about 9:30 a.m.
On Wednesday of this week, friends arrived at 6 and got 101; were told to come back at 11 a.m. to get back in line. |
