Switching doctors at same practice?

I need to go the natural cycle route and Dominion seems to be the only place that does it. I’ve had my consult appointments with Dr Dimattina but I really don’t care for him. It seems like he has canned responses for everything and I feel like I don’t get genuine/straight answers to my questions. I’ve read good things about Dr Gordon but it feels awkward to switch doctors, especially since I know Dr D may very likely be the one I see for certain appointments. Anyone have experience with this? Is there another practice that’s good for NC IVF?

He's a bit quirky, but i got more straight answers from Dr DiMattina about my failed cycle at SGF than from my previous RE. There are some things no RE has a good answers for, like egg quality or sperm morphology.

In case you haven't seen them, there are some posts on this board from several years ago on the same topic--one about switching w/in Shady Grove, another w/in Columbia. As posters on those threads said, you're paying a lot of money, so you should be confident and happy before you proceed.

FWIW, I'm a previous patient of Dr. Gordon's and was extremely happy with DF and specifically that he was my RE. I switched to DF from another clinic, and had decided I wanted to see Dr. G. entirely based on reading reviews on this and other sites. I feel like the doctors at Dominion try very hard to do the procedures on their own patients, especially when they fall during the week (so long as your RE is not out of town). It might be a little more hit-or-miss on the weekend, but that is something worth asking if you switch to Dr. G and have a consult with him. So, the times I feel like you would be most likely to run into Dr. Dimattina would be: possibly morning monitoring, maybe if your procedure(s) fall on a weekend or holiday, or if Dr. G is out of town. From what I gathered while a patient there, Dr. Dimattina covers morning monitoring at the Arlington and Bethesda offices. I was there last summer, and at that time he was definitely at Bethesda on Friday mornings. Dr. Waud and Dr. Gordon were the only ones who did morning monitoring at Fair Oaks, so if that happens to be a convenient or possible location for you, you could go there for Mon-Fri; all weekend monitoring is at Arlington, though.

There is no other clinic in DMV that does NCIVF.

according to CDC report, https://www.cdc.gov/art/reports/2015/fertility-clinic.html, the percentage of unstimulated IVF (out of all IVF) of the following clinics are over 10%.

LIFE IVF CENTER, Irvin, CA, 92%
VERMESH CENTER FOR FERTILITY, TARZANA CA, 11%
New Hope Fertility, NY, NY. 14%
New York Reproductive, NY, NY, 45%
Newway Medical, NY, NY, 22%
Offices for Fertility, NY, NY, 11%

Yes, you will likely run in to any one of four Dr.s. Morning monitoring (weekday or weekends) you could meet any of the four Dr.s. If your egg retrieval/implantation falls on weekdays I believe they try to schedule you with your doc, but if they fall on weekends (2/7 chance!) you might be treated by the doctor that is on call that weekend.

But I am sure Dr. D would still be happy to see you since part of your payment would make its way into his pockets.

Agree Dr. D is quirky, but he is very, very good at what he does. My two NCIVF kids (both conceived on the first try) are playing in the living room now. 4 year old DD and 1 year old DS. I'm 36 and have blocked tubes.

I had 3 NCIVF cycles and the only one that worked was the one DrD did the ER and ET bc he was the Dr on call.
