I just bought boots that look like this style http://www.ninewest.com/Zelman%2c-Take-30%25-Off/4145984,default,pd.html?cgid=4216632&itemNum=39&variantSizeClass=&variantColor=BKGYBLE
but they are an orangey-reddish brown (if that makes sense). Perhaps I should have thought this out earlier but I liked them and bought them on impulse. Now what do I wear with these? Besides just covering them up with long pants... I'd love to show them off somehow. Can I do leggings? But if they're brown boots, do I have to do brown leggings? Any other ideas? |
| Legging or tights that are the same color as your skirt. |
| I just saw on Oprah's Shoe and Handbag Intervention episode yesterday that you match your tights to your boots, so get tights in the same tone as your boots. Then, the style editor at O said he likes to pair brown + red for the winter. Much less "jarring" than red + black (= hooker, in my book). They showed brown booties and tights + a red dress and coat and it was great! Def going to do this myself this winter. |

i wish i could see a picture... my google searches are just turning up shoe sales sites.
i feel like brown leggings with brown booties would look like a horseback rider gone bad... somehow whenever i see pictures or people on the street with the ankle boots, it only seems to look right in black. |
| Ok, I found a picture of the lady in red with brown boots on the Oprah show. Don't you think it looks cute!? And so different from boring black... |
| If you're wearing a leopardskin pattern, make sure it's the ONLY pattern you're wearing. And for heaven's sake, do NOT wear anything else with an animal skin pattern, lest people refer to you as "Sheena of the Jungle." |

op here, i don't have any leopard skin pattern. not sure where that's coming from?
it's funny though, going back to the oprah poster, the brown is so dark it almost looks like black. |
| So, if I'm wearing a leopard pattern cashmere sweater, I cannot wear my leopard print skimmers with my jeans? |
It's coming from the link in your first post. That boot is a leopard print. You noted yours is not black but orangey-brown (but I can see how someone might be unclear as to whether that meant it was a print or solid). |
sorry i meant it's a SOLID orangey brown... now i see what you mean. |
