Son congested-can he get H1N1 mist?

Anonymous
My son is mildly congested. He doesn't have other symptoms currently. Can he still get the H1N1 mist???

He got over a stomach bug a few days ago. It was not the flu according to the rapid flu test which I know is not very accurate. I know ideally he should be 100% healthy, but given how many things are going around right now I assume he will always have something. By the time we have a day where he seems completely healthy and full of energy the H1N1 mist will be gone. From what I hear it is easier to get the mist and we DEFINITELY want mercury free which I don't think is available by shot yet.

I am looking at the papers I got from Hardy on Thursday about the mist. It says "If you are moderately or severely ill, you might be advised to wait until you recover before getting the vaccine. If you have a mild cold or other illness, there is usually no need to wait."

My DD got the mist in MoCo when her head was congested from what we think is allergies. I explained this to the nurses and no one blinked. We blew her nose and I had her sniff some vicks vaporub, and then up her nose when the mist.

My son had a cold too. They told him he just had to blow his nose really well first. FYI....he also had just gotten over a stomach bug. Most kids in the line were coughing and seemed congested so I think it should be fine.
