We are and in an area that goes to kenmore but has ashlawn es.
Our jobs are here in Arlington but with 1st and 3rd grader we need to move now to prevent going to kenmore. It has not appeared to get any better like we hoped. We can swing the commute from a fcps like Woodson at the farthest. Most of our neighbors are planning on moving prior to 6th grade so not like we are losing our neighbors- most are bailing that we hang out with. It is not about more house for the money (maybe 10%), really about the schools (70%) and hopefully a little less Arlington with waitlists for everything (enrichment, camps, classes, etc) and having more of a yard/parking not being a pain. |
| Is there a question here? Do you want a going-away party? |

I don’t get your post. Rant or question?
Kenmore is great. Definitely diverse, but kids do well there. Fantastic teachers and principal. STEAM curriculum very successful. Sorry you feel so unhappy about Kenmore before even getting there. FCPS is no dreamboat. |
| OP is trolling, ignore it. |
Meh. I’d rather bump this thread, than let the weirdo Lake Braddock trolls continue to claim the top spot. Is Fairfax Underground broken or something? |
You will not get away from waitlists. |
| Kenmore is an amazing school. Least overcrowded. Diversity, STEAM...many families transfer their kids their from neighborhood schools |
| Eh. Kenmore also has the fewest sections of advanced math. Even proportionally so. |

Honestly I don’t understand posts like this. Either op is a troll, in which case it is what it is.
Or op is legit, in which case I’m not sure why you would move three years before your kid is even starting middle school. Combine that with it’s unclear if Kenmore will be a bad school three years from now since it’s not a bad school now, and the new boundaries aren’t in effect yet. Arlington is going to look so different in five years anyways because of amazon. |

The issue with kenmore is that, according to our neighbor/friend with over 10 years as ACP they respond to calls at kenmore more than Washington and Lee...a friggin high school.
While there has been few violent crimes at kenmore ACP often posts double the amount of officers when there is rising, gang oriented issues brewing. It is more preventive- but he said he would never send his kid there when there are so many better options in the county. |

Your neighbor is wrong. It makes me wonder if perhaps he is racist or has serious bias against people of color.
Here is the Virginia Department of Education report on schools. Scroll down to Learning Climate and then within that section, you can see Discipline and Offense Data. Kenmore is better than W-L and right in the middle on discipline in the county for middle school. Kenmore - 17 “other offenses against persons”, 22 disorderly or disruptive. http://schoolquality.virginia.gov/schools/kenmore-middle Here is W-L - 23 other offenses against persons, 29 disorderly/disruptive, 36 drug/tobacco/alcohol. (More than W-L) http://schoolquality.virginia.gov/schools/washington-lee-high Here are other APS middle schools for reference. Williamsburg - 25 other against persons, 18 disorderly. http://schoolquality.virginia.gov/schools/williamsburg-middle Swanson - 19 other against persons, 36 disorderly, 14 against a student. http://schoolquality.virginia.gov/schools/swanson-middle Jefferson - 14 other against persons. http://schoolquality.virginia.gov/schools/jefferson-middle Gunston - 13 other against persons, 21 disorderly. http://schoolquality.virginia.gov/schools/gunston-middle |
| Oops - under W-L stats, meant to say W-L has more discipline issues than Kenmore. |
Oh please stop, there are no gang related issues at Kenmore. My son went there and had no issues, some kids were rough around the edges but nothing serious. Buh - Bye OP enjoy FFX. |
| Multiple kids at Ashlawn Andy’s and all our friends plan to continue to Kenmore. |
Amazon won't make a dent in APS's rising farms rates in general, and probably zero impact on the western pike in particular. These rates are increasingly being driven by CAFs, not MARKs, which are declining in number. However, if anything, the county will use money from Amazon related development to expand Barcroft Apts. And keep in mind that once the 4th HS is built and pulls Arlington Heights, Penrose and Oakridge out of Wakefield, Wakefield's farms rate will be as bad as Randolph or carlin Springs. Amazon's arrival will simply make NA even more exclusive. The CB has pretty much sentenced SA to long term underdevelopment via planning policy. |
