Has anyone bought tickets for a game when visiting London?
We'll be in London for spring break, and DS would like to go to a game. From my research, it seems like to have a chance at tickets, you have to be a member of the club. Memberships for the 4 of us would cost us around $125, plus the cost of the game tickets. Has anyone bought tickets this way, or another way? I don't mind buying the memberships to get ticket access if there is a high chance we'll be able to get tickets once they go on sale, but I don't want to pay for the memberships if the chances of getting tickets will still be slim. Anyone have any experience? |

Why aren’t you going to Spurs??
Just kidding (not really). You don’t need to be a member to get tickets, but for some games they will be sold out before they go on general release. But if you are only going to one game I don’t think joining will be worth it. See here for the Spurs ticketing website - the inferior London clubs will be much the same. https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/tickets/buy-tickets/home-tickets/ This is also a list of the official sellers of tickets (again, will be similar for the other clubs) https://i.tottenhamhotspur.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000073549-Official-Sellers-and-Unauthorised-Ticket-Information#Official_Sellers |
| Sorry - to add, some games will be very hard to get tickets to, but if you sign up to emails from the club you should see when tickets go on sale for the game you’re interested in. If you know what that is already then you could have some idea of how popular it is likely to be (a London derby = very popular, for example) |
| Lol PP. DH and DS are rabid Tottenham Hotspur fans. My other son is a Chelsea fan. I’m dreading this weekend. |
| Don’t forget about West Ham, Crystal Palace, or Fulham if you can’t get tickets at the more popular clubs. |

Hi,
I'm a season ticket holder at Arsenal. For games that we don't use we resell them back through the club's exchange system that allows other members to buy the tickets for face value. This has eliminated a great deal of the scalping that goes on. The cost of a Red Membership (for Arsenal) will more than likely be equal to the 'American accent markup' that the scalpers charge for tickets, and you'll be much more likely to find 4 tickets together with a membership than on your own. I should note though that 4x together will go quick, so you might be looking at 2 & 2 somewhere in different parts of the stadium. If you have kids you could look at getting them Jr. Gunner memberships which (I think) gives you access to the ticket exchange. You might want to check with the box office to be sure. Could save some cash. In fact most clubs have junior membership offers to save cash and you get all sorts of freebies in the mail. Chelsea, despite the money, doesn't sell out as frequently and Tottenham is currently playing in Wembley which has way too many seats, as does West Ham playing in the Olympic Stadium. Crystal Palace is another option. Lower division games are often much more fun, so consider QPR (small intimate stadium), Fulham, Charlton, Millwall (if you are brave), or Brentford. If you do need 3x tickets to Arsenal. we might be able to work something out such that you wouldn't need a membership. |

PP here.
One more point--both Arsenal and Chelsea have US membership schemes where you can join US supporters and get access to their fan-held tickets (guys like me who make our tickets available to Yanks heading over). Worth checking out ArsenalAmerica and Chelsea America or whatever they are called. |
