Priority groups

I haven't heard anything lately about parents of children less than 6 months of age being in a priority group for immunization, although I do remember hearing it a while ago. Does anyone know about this? My 22-month old has gotten the H1N1, but my husband and I haven't yet, and we also have a 4-month old. We've all (except baby) had the seasonal flu shot.

i don't think infants 6 months and younger can be vaccinated. that is why their parents/caregivers are a priority group.

I saw a couple with an obviously young baby getting vaccinated on Thursday at Hardy. I think (but am not sure) that the form asked if you were a caregiver for a young infant. You could call the DC DOH to ask. If you want to go today, just go to the front and ask a volunteer before you get in line. There was a woman behind me who waited two hours just to be told she wasn't priority and she left.

Parents of babies 6 months are less are a priority group in Fairfax, DC, and Alexandria. Some places are extending that to caregivers, eg daycare providers, nannies, etc...

DC will vaccinate parents and caregivers of children under 6 months now. I was in line behind such caregiver on Thursday at Hardy.

I agree with the others. You are considered part of the high priority group.

Hardy gave the vaccine to my husband and nanny.

Just check how each county defines the group. I think Fairfax just does parents, but Alexandria and DC will do caregivers as well.

Coolidge is vaccinating parents of babies under or even a few weeks older than 6 months (even though the DC website does not reflect as much). My husband and I both got the shot -- at the nurse's urging, we were assuming only our DC would get it -- this past Saturday (we have a 6 1/2 month old), and our neighbors, who have a 2 month old, both got the shot the weekend before.

OP here- thank you for the replies. Do I need to bring my daughter's birth certificate for proof?

OP again- I ask that because I would like to try to go tomorrow after work and wouldn't have her with me...

I heard that now they're only trying to vaccinate pregnant women.

I believe DC is still vaccinating all CDC priority groups.

no birth certificate is required.
