5 mornings a week too much for 3 year old?

Anonymous
I signed my son up for a Tuesday, Thursday class for the Fall but found another program that meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday. They are both 9-11:30. I will have an infant then and thought it would be great to have my mornings to spend with the infant and the afternoons to spend with both but am not sure if 5 mornings a week would be too much. My son is in one day a week right now and really craves more time with other children his ages.

i don't think 5 mornings is too much for a three year old...not sure about two different programs though. i'm sure he would adjust but it might be alot to go back and forth.

I'd go for the 3-day program only.

Certainly no problem. By age 3, alot of kids are already in full day schools, 5 days a week.

My 3 yo is in a 5 day program and really seems to do well with the consistency of going to the same place every day I go to work. I would be a little concerned about the switching from one place to another every day, but I'm sure they will get used to it. Kids are so flexible, and it will be nice to have some time with your infant. If it starts to not work out, you can always change things at a later time.

If your son goes one day a week now, I would opt for the 3 day program. He has the rest of his life to go to school 5 days a week and he is only 3 years old.

My 3 year old goes to school 5 days a week, all day. The full-day isn't what we originally planned, but she loves it so much that we let her stay all day. She thrives on the consistency of knowing where she's going every day.

It is more about consistancy at this age. I would pick one school or find another with more days. 3 is pretty young to be switching around like that. I think it will cause problems. And your infant will most likely be asleep during the 9-11 hours so you really won't get much time with him either. good luck

Ditto this. My DD had just turned 3 when preschool started and she attends 5 days a week (9-1). It took some getting used to at the beginning but going every day is not a problem. Going to two different programs, however, does give me pause. In your case I might look for a 5 day program (if that's what you think you want) or else just going with the 3 day program.

5 days a week is not too much, but two different schools is too much. Pick one or just keep looking for a 5 day. I had my baby when my daughter was in a 5 day/half day program. She loved having children around her and the attention from the teachers. And I loved having some time with my new baby.
Good Luck

Where are you finding 5 day a week preschools for a 3 year old? There are absolutely none in upper moco, unless you're talking about daycare.

I don't know about MoCo, but there are lots of them in DC. I think all the Montessoris are 5-day at this age; many play-based programs are as well.
