Would love honest feedback on experiences at Reston Children's Center and Hunter Mill Country Day School. Thank you!
We had two kids at RCC who since "graduated" - they are now in elementary and do RCC for after-care. It is excellent. Very well run. The staff all has very long tenure, very little turnover. Highly recommend it.
I had three kids in RCC. We seriously loved it. The teachers are great. I would highly recommend them!
We were at RCC and left. Felt unorganized at times and that kids moved between the rooms based on business considerations rather than developmental necessity.
We looked at RCC last year. It was very disorganized during our tour. Several teachers seem disengaged. It may not be as good as it was when PPs' kids attended.
Thanks for the feedback! Anyone able to compare RCC to Hunter Mill Country Day by any chance? I realize totally different set up!
No experience with RCC but I love HMCDS. Play based, gets the kids outside 3 times a day, long tenured staff, very nurturing.
If you haven't looked at it, we LOVED Reston Montessori! The teachers are amazing

I can't speak to RCC but we are at HMCDS. It is a very unique environment so I find it hard to compare to other schools. We love it and I feel lucky we found a place with such wonderful teachers. I also appreciate that there is space to run around - a real playground and not some pathetic excuse of a play area that they are building at many of the newer places these days. HMCDS has character. My kid loves going to school now. Loves the other kids, loves the teachers.
They make it so much fun for those kids I am actually worried that my kid is going to hate elementary school. Most of the parents seem friendly - some seem a little d-baggish but I think that may be the case everywhere. |
My Kindergartener loves K but is also already excited for summer camp at HMCDS.

Off tooic, I know, but does anyone know what elementary schools HMCDS supports for before/after care? We were looking at HMCDS but want to find a preschool where a cohort of kids go to Waples Mill ES, particularly for before/after school care so our son could transition more easily to ES.
Primarily Oakton ES, and Sunrise Valley. They have very few Waples Mill kids, we asked, as that is our elementary too. From what I can tell from our neighborhood, kids are in preschool all over the place, with no large cohort, especially among those in full-day care. |
