I know! My kid's post is one of those posts, so it feels extra weird.

Ick levels through the roof. Kinda wish they’d make my kiddo’s school’s private.

However, I personally think T20 admissions (that include Chicago, Duke, JHU, etc) are a better indication of school rigor. I am guessing it might be the Ivy+ handle in the analysis above.

What is Ivy+ handle? Specifically what is handle? Never heard of that.

it's just the hyper competitive NY parents.

These are all amazing schools.

And even going "lower" down - many good private schools and great fits for many kids.

Kids don't care. if they had an issue they wouldn't publish where they are going.

The kids should be proud, lots of great schools.

I have assumed it is top 20 schools (or something that is close enough to T20).

Looking at Ivies only or Ivies+S/M gives a skewed picture. Many kids choose Chicago, Duke, JHU, etc over Cornell, Brown, Dartmouth or Columbia. DC (who is not yet a senior but already thinking about colleges) would choose Chicago over most Ivies (apart from HYP).

My kid is proud, and he and his friends are happy and excited about their choices. I'm going to share this thread with him . . . he will get a kick out of middle-aged women wasting their time analyzing where a bunch of teenagers are going to college.

I'm sure the kids don't care, it's just sad you all are wasting your time on this.

for parents deciding where to send kids to high school this matters a ton.

the thread is "instagram college decisions" - anyone not interested in the topic has muted the thread or doesn't open it.

some could say it's sad that you are wasting your time commenting on this thread.

handle is the next column, instagram handle

Ivy+ = Ivy League + Stanford, MIT, Caltech, UChicago, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, Vanderbilt

I'm not ashamed of wanting to communicate with other parents online. Are you?

Well, college placement is still one of the important factors... and we are discussing this specific factor in this thread, what's wrong with that?...
